RECOMMENDATION: Putt ing aside the eff ect on successful treatment of periprosthetic joint infections (PJIs), it is logical that a single surgical procedure puts patients at lower risk for both mortality and morbidity compared to a two-stage exchange arthroplasty that involves two separate operations.
