What are the indications and contraindications of using debridement, antibiotics and implant retention (DAIR) with exchange of modular components for the management of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI)?

RECOMMENDATION: The best advantage in performing DAIR of the prosthesis is seen in early postoperative PJI and acute hematogenous PJI, defined as symptoms existing for no longer than four weeks, and if the implant is stable. The KLIC and CRIME80 scores may aid in risk stratifi cation.
